Chester County, Pennsylvania.
A measles outbreak next door in Lancaster.
Health officials sent nurses into Amish and rural homes instead of waiting for people to find a clinic.
County numbers: 538 MMR vaccines. 340 given in private settings .. kitchens, living rooms, the house.
Director Jeanne Franklin said they reused the COVID playbook: knock, explain the outbreak, offer the shot on the spot. Nurse Dale Weiser has been driving out, sometimes daily, vaccinating families at the table.
Official line: many have no insurance, little contact with the system, or don’t want neighbours seeing them change their mind.
That’s the news.
The argument is whether a state nurse on the porch is help or pressure.
They can offer the vial.
The household still has to say yes.
Door-to-door in Amish country is not a rumour.
It’s policy with a kitchen chair.
