A carnivorous caterpillar native to Hawaii 🐛
This remarkable larva is equipped with an entire arsenal of hunting adaptations. It has two well-developed abdominal appendages that act as a trigger mechanism when capturing prey. During an attack, it can contort its body in nearly any direction. It snatches its victim with six clawed front legs, covered in sensitive hairs. Its incredible camouflage allows it to remain undetected—easily resembling a young green twig or blade of grass.
