I think it's also possible the next democrat administration will try to go after "assault weapons" via the NFA, since it's technically a tax there's no reason I don't think why they wouldn't be able to go that route, and not only that but do it by simple majority just like how the GOP passed the big beautiful bill. Ever since the GOP made the tax on those items $0 I'm sure the democrats have been salivating at the prospect of doing the opposite and expanding it ever since.

I guess it depends on how the SCOTUS rules on the "assault weapon" issue next year, if the ruling goes far enough that it prohibits the possibility of putting it in the NFA we are safer I guess
