Devotedness can harden resolve. Thing that is fortified too fiercely often transforms its portrait—it no longer delivers its master, instead, it begins to custody the master’s choices. Benevolent for object isn’t a sentimental act, it’s acknowledgement that ownership doesn’t end at acquisition—if an object tormented, it’s evidence that the thing has been decayed as it should be.
