UPDATE Xiaomi_Inventory SET Model_Name = 'Pad 9' WHERE Innovation_Level = 0 AND Original_Model = 'Pad 8'git commit -m "Fixed bug where the Xiaomi tablet was accidentally an Tab 8 instead of Tab 9"
Xiaomi’s "innovation" has officially peaked at a basic find-and-replace job. Why bother with engineers when a developer with a backspace key can create a "next-gen" device in seconds. Firmware Code shows the "new" Pad 9 is just a global rebrand of the Pad 8, keeping the same ‘yupei’ codename throughout.
The code proves that at Xiaomi, 8 == 9 is a valid boolean if Lei Jun says so. Don't buy a Pad 9, just rename your Pad 8 in the settings and save yourself the cash.
