🏦 Banks Reopened. Withdrawals Were Capped. Bitcoin Hit $1 Billion.
On March 28, 2013, Cyprus reopened its banks under strict capital controls, with withdrawals limited to €300.
That same day, Bitcoin’s market cap crossed $1 billion for the first time.
BTC had been around $47 before the Cyprus bailout deal. By March 28, it was above $88, and weeks later it would surge past $200.
While traditional safe havens barely moved, Bitcoin was having a historic run.
Coincidence, or an early sign of how people were starting to rethink financial risk?
