—❗️🇮🇷/☢️ NEW: Iran has resumed excavation and development at one of its largest dormant projects, the Abyek underground complex, codenamed ‘Site 311’ by Western and Israeli intelligence agencies
The site is located along the Tehran-Qazvin corridor, roughly 100 km from Tehran. The facility is excavated into mountainous terrain and includes several tunnel portals, likely connected to an extensive underground network including dozens of halls and bunkers, one of the largest of its kind in Iran.
Satellite imagery indicates a major project, with large volumes of excavated spoil, supporting infrastructure, and substantial rock overburden providing protection for facilities inside the mountain.
Most of the excavation work at this site took place between 2007 and 2016. Work largely ceased afterwards for unknown reasons.
Immediately following Operation Epic Fury, however, satellite imagery showed a clear change: Iran has returned to the project and resumed excavation at a rapid pace not seen at the site in roughly a decade.
The site attracted international attention in 2010, after it was accused of being a secret uranium-enrichment facility. The claim was never independently verified, and there is still no conclusive public evidence that uranium enrichment has taken place at the site. Its precise purpose remains unknown.
