🇨🇵: 14-year-old student hit in the face by close-range Cougar tear-gas shot during lycée blockade; IGPN inquiry opened.

On Monday 28 September 2026, during a student blockade at the Château d’Épluches vocational high school in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône (Val-d’Oise), a 14-year-old pupil was struck in the face by a projectile from a police Cougar grenade launcher fired at very close range.

Videos show the minor approaching officers, receiving baton blows, kicking back, falling, and then being hit; he suffered several broken teeth and was taken to Pontoise hospital. The Pontoise prosecutor confirmed the sequence from video evidence and opened an IGPN inquiry into the shot, plus a separate probe into alleged violence by the student against a female officer.
