Work-Life Harmony: How to Find Balance While Leveling Up (for Managing Roles)
Arina Drobysheva, HR Director at BeInCrypto, shares her core rules for staying productive and growing as a manager without sliding into burnout — especially in the fast-paced Web3/IT world:
Growth without boundaries leads to burnout. Busy doesn’t always mean productive. Boundaries are part of working smart.
Since I first became a manager, I have experienced both ups and downs, and my work-life balance has been tested more than once. Here are my main rules for balancing:
➡️Delegate, but still be there.
It is not easy, specifically for perfectionists. Sometimes you think: “It is faster if I do it myself.” And then you realise that with all the extended responsibilities, it will not only burn you out, but you will be the main delayer. Ensure that there are well-defined processes, and your team knows what to do in most cases.
➡️Protect personal time.
I promote a culture in my team where nobody bothers each other during vacation, there is a “no urgency” policy, and there is no demand to answer messages as soon as possible. If somebody messages after your shift ends, you can answer the next day.
➡️Control your calendar.
There can be too many meetings sometimes (you know that meme where you suddenly become too important at work). Reduce them as much as possible. Meet only with a plan before and action plans afterwards. Plan lunch and 5-minute breaks between meetings, but still don’t divide meetings much (it makes it hard to focus on something in between). I also make sure to have one meeting-free day a week for deep work.
➡️Find support externally.
If there was someone above to support you earlier, you may find that now you are on your own, and it is you who should support others. You need to find a way to support yourself (with hobbies, family, rituals, reflection, coaches, psychologists, motivational books and videos, etc.).
Balance doesn’t mean slowing down growth, it means making it sustainable.
💬Challenge for you: What’s one non-negotiable boundary you’ll set for yourself this month?
