Working harder won’t make you a leader, thinking bigger will.
That’s the shift so many miss when they’re ready to grow.
Raquel Zambrano, HR Manager at BeInCrypto, shares what really changes when you go from contributor to leader and why “just do more” won’t get you there:
From Contributor to Leader: The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything
You’ve heard “fake it till you make it”? Well… that doesn’t quite work here.
This is where you actually believe in yourself, and back it up with action. If something feels off, don’t mask it. Fix it. Build it. Own it. The real shift happens when you recognize your own worth and act on it.
Because the skills that make you great at doing the work aren’t the same ones that make you great at leading the work. Here’s the difference:
Contributor Skills:
▫️Task execution
▫️Consistency
▫️Independence
Leader Skills:
▫️Influence
▫️Delegation
▫️Strategic thinking
How to shift your questions:
Influence: Inspire and align people toward a common goal.
❌ Stop asking: “How can I do this?”
✅ Start asking: “Who needs to be aligned to move this forward?”
Delegation: Trust others with responsibility so you can scale impact.
❌ Stop asking: “How can I handle all this?”
✅ Start asking: “Who can take ownership of this part?”
Strategic Thinking: Zoom out. Focus on what really matters.
❌ Stop asking: “How do I finish this task?”
✅ Start asking: “Does this align with our long-term goals?”
There’s no single recipe for leadership — your style is yours to shape.
Leadership isn’t about doing everything yourself. It’s about unlocking more through others.
Think ahead. Think bigger. Think like a leader. Ready to shift? 🚀
Your turn: What was your biggest mindset shift when stepping into more responsibility?
