Ever felt stuck on the same level, even though you’re ready for more?
You’re not alone and it’s not always obvious how to ask for bigger tasks without sounding pushy or entitled.
Arina Drobysheva, Chief People & Operations Officer at BeInCrypto, shares practical ways to show you’re ready for the next step, plus what not to do if you want that trust (and promotion) to actually happen:
✅ How to show you’re ready to grow
▫️In your 1:1, say you’d like to grow, name your target role, share your vision for getting there, and ask what skills, results, or conditions you need to meet. Agree on a rough timeline together.
▫️Ask about team and business goals and volunteer to own relevant areas. The more interest you show in real business needs, the faster you’ll level up.
▫️Deliver tasks on time and with good quality. Fewer edits = more trust. ▫️Don’t be shy to highlight results.
Finished a course or got a new certification? Tell your manager (without turning it into a brag).
▫️Bring ideas, but be ready to own them and make them happen.
When problems come up, bring a solution. Even better? Solve it first, then share what worked.
❌ What not to do
▫️Don’t just wait for someone to magically notice your potential, speak up.
▫️Don’t demand a raise if you haven’t agreed in advance on new responsibilities.
▫️Don’t threaten to quit.
▫️Don’t tell colleagues you feel undervalued, talk to your manager first.
▫️Don’t skip your manager and go straight to HR or leadership without a heads-up.
➡️ Over to you: How do you show you’re ready for a bigger role, without being “that person”?
