A capybara was spotted in Brazil’s Pantanal, emerging from a waterhole with aquatic plants clinging to its fur.
As the world’s largest rodent, it spends much of its time in the water to keep cool and avoid predators on land, including jaguars—while staying alert to threats in the water, such as caimans.
Its dense fur and oily skin help repel water, but floating plants often get caught on its coat as it swims and forages.
