this evening I was replacing
pots with my mother’s geraniums
from one balcony to another.
when I was on my way to get the last pot,
I saw that the path I’ve chosen
was covered in scarlet petals —
the presents from the floral ghost
which was definitely leaving the oldest
geraniums speechless.
at this very moment
I realised three fundamental truths
which were always close to my head,
but not close enough to my mind:
I was carrying nothing but phantoms
of the blossoming world
and I was lucky to have them dead
in my arms.
whatever I choose in life,
I must check in advance
whether my way is spring-feverish
or leading through the cemetery.
and my principal duty is
to protect those who I love,
to remain as kind as I am,
to be both the sunflower and the sun.
