Happy Irish-American Heritage Month! 🇮🇪 Irish artist Walter Frederick Osborne was born in 1859 in Dublin. The son of a successful animal painter, he showed talent from an early age, winning various student awards. His commissioned portraits supplied most of his income, which became increasingly important later in life as he was supporting his orphaned niece and his parents. But even after moving to England, he enjoyed returning to Dublin to prepare sketches showcasing the everyday life of the city’s poor. Osborne died of pneumonia at the young age of 43.
