Program Overview
The ACMI-NG is a locally developed, next-generation Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation pod unveiled by Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS), Pakistan, at IDEAS 2024. The system is designed as an external, pylon-mounted training pod for recording, transmitting, and reconstructing air combat missions for post-flight analysis.
What does an ACMI pod do?
It digitally recreates the entire flight in 3D, letting instructors replay every second to see what the aircraft and pilot did, from takeoff to landing.
Primary Role
Advanced live and post-mission air combat training, including:
• Air-to-air maneuvering
• Formation tactics
• Weapons employment analysis
• Mission performance evaluation
SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
Configuration:
• Exterior-mounted pod (underwing or fuselage hardpoint)
• Quick-fit / quick-remove design
No internal aircraft modification required
Operational Model:
• Range-less ACMI (does not require fixed ground training ranges)
• Suitable for both domestic and deployed training operations
Core Capabilities:
• Time-Space-Position Information (TSPI) Recording
Tracks aircraft position, altitude, speed, heading, and maneuvers
• Post-Flight Debrief & Mission Reconstruction
Full 3D playback of engagements
Pilot and instructor-led performance review
• Plug-and-Play Compatibility
Designed for rapid integration across multiple aircraft types
• External Pod Configuration
Uses existing pylons/hardpoints
Facilitates fleet-wide training without aircraft-specific redesign
• Indigenous Development
Designed and produced in Pakistan, reducing reliance on foreign systems
Expected Features:
• GNSS (GPS) + INS navigation fusion for high-precision TSPI
• Encrypted RF datalink for live tracking and instructor monitoring
•Onboard solid-state data recorder
• Embedded mission video recording (sensor or cockpit feed)
• Multi-ship interoperability (supports formation and adversary training)
• MIL-STD compliant electrical/data interfaces
• Ruggedized pod design (high-speed airflow, vibration, temperature extremes)
Operational Advantages:
• Cost-effective training modernization
• Reduced dependence on instrumented air combat ranges
• Rapid deployment and scalability
• Suitable for fighter, aggressor, and advanced trainer aircraft
• Export-friendly solution for allied air forces
