SpaceRay, a member company of the Ukrainian Technological Forces Association (TSU), has developed the handheld tracking and targeting system SpaceRay SA, which assists mobile fire groups and air defense units. Today, the system is already used by more than 50 units.
It is a system that combines a thermal imaging sensor, a laser designator, and a 7-inch monitor. It enables detection of strike UAVs such as “Shahed-136”, “Geran”, and “Gerbera” at long distances and “illuminates” them for engagement systems.
Key advantages of SpaceRay SA:
🔹 The system can be used as an alternative to expensive air defense missiles for countering cheap kamikaze drones, reducing the cost of a single interception to around $500.
🔹 Laser target marking allows machine gunners and anti-aircraft operators to see the target at distances of up to 5 km, even in complete darkness.
🔹 The system provides a clear guidance path for interceptor drones at ranges of up to 12 km, guiding them directly to the target.
🔹 It operates reliably in extreme conditions, from -25 °C to +45 °C.
🔹 Training takes only 30 minutes of instruction and a few hours of practical practice.
“The device performs its task at 100%. Using two systems simultaneously allows the group to mark a target with a laser crosshair, which significantly simplifies the work of shooters without night vision devices,” commanders of the units report.
