On September 16, 1975, the prototype of the E‑155MP (MiG‑31) interceptor made its first flight.

Work on creating this MiG‑31 interceptor began at the Mikoyan OKB in 1968. In 1975, the aircraft took to the skies for the first time, and in May 1981, the interceptor was officially commissioned into the Soviet Army.
