BYBIT VS. N. KOREA FOR $1.5 BILLION 💵
The Claim: Bybit is suing North Korea for the full $1.5 Billion stolen in the February 2025 Ethereum exploit.
The Recovery Trail: Bybit has already recovered $48.4M alongside law enforcement and successfully frozen another $30.5M across global exchanges.
The Remaining Debt: Subtracting recovered and locked funds, Kim Jong Un’s regime still owes Bybit roughly $1.42 Billion.
The Injunction: A U.S. judge ruled in Bybit’s favor, issuing a preliminary injunction to lock down “John Doe” wallets moving the stolen assets.
🛡 WHY IT MATTERS
Sources claim that N. Korea relies on stolen funds (such as crypto) to fund its military weapons and other illicit operations while bypassing global sanctions.
If Bybit wins, this could allow federal marshals to permanently seize North Korea’s frozen foreign bank accounts, sanctions-busting shell assets, and crypto addresses worldwide.
But, will this actually happen? 🤔
