The Indian Navy officially commissioned INS Mangrol, the third Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

The ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.

Indigenous Development:
Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in Kochi, the vessel features over 80% indigenous content, aligning with India's Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat defence initiatives.

Shallow Water Capability:
Powered by three diesel engines and a highly maneuverable waterjet propulsion system, the craft is custom-designed to detect and neutralize sub-surface threats in coastal, shallow waters and port approaches where larger warships face limitations.

Advanced Weaponry & Sensors:
The "submarine hunter" is equipped with the state-of-the-art Abhay hull-mounted sonar, lightweight torpedoes, an indigenous anti-submarine rocket launcher, and the Mareech Advanced Torpedo Decoy System.
