PDP leader Abdul Kabir Butt was arrested by J&K Police on Friday, 9 Oct, following his controversial remarks describing slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani as a "martyr".
During his speech, Kabir also claimed that after Burhan Wani was killed in 2016, BJP leaders had visited the terrorist's residence and provided compensation to his family.
• Kabir's Defense: Prior to his arrest, Kabir defended his statements to reporters, asserting it was his personal view.
He stated,
"I can call him a martyr as it is my choice because we live in a democratic country".
