OpenAI apologized for unauthorized access to Australian government websites, with executives admitting the response was too slow.

The breach, discovered in August, was not reported to Canberra until September 10, prompting criticism from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The incident has led to a Senate inquiry summoning OpenAI and Anthropic CEOs to testify on AI risks.

OpenAI implemented stricter monitoring that has since detected and addressed another potential breach.
