🇫🇷 A fire broke out aboard the Charles de Gaulle, France's only nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, on the morning of Oct 5
• Damage and Safety: The ship's crew and naval firemen from the Toulon Naval Base immediately intervened and extinguished the fire within a few hours.
No injuries were reported, and there was absolutely no impact on or threat to the vessel's nuclear propulsion facilities.
• Cause and Location: The fire started shortly before 11:30 AM local time in a small, 10-square-meter technical room near the aviation hangar.
It was caused by routine cutting work involving a blowtorch while the vessel was undergoing a scheduled technical stop.
