🇷🇺 Russia has placed 197 people under medical observation, including 189 who have been hospitalized as a precaution, following the death of a 27-year-old researcher at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute in Siberia.

➡️The researcher, Darya Shipilova, died after developing severe pneumonia and requiring mechanical ventilation.

➡️Local reports claim she may have been exposed to the pneumonic-plague pathogen after accidentally breaking a laboratory vial. However, Russia's federal health authorities have not confirmed plague as the cause of death.

➡️Rospotrebnadzor said her illness was pneumonia of undetermined etiology and reported that testing did not identify pathogens associated with her professional work.
