Yemen's Saudi-backed government has launched operations to retake Houthi-held territory following the collapse of a 2022 truce.

Despite the counteroffensive, Houthis have seized the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and gained ground near Taiz, which threatens the last road to Aden.

This development is critical as Bab el-Mandeb serves as a key alternative shipping route to the closed Strait of Hormuz.
