🇮🇳 BIG MOVE ON UNPAID TRAFFIC CHALLANS

The Supreme Court has suggested that unpaid traffic e-challans could be linked to electricity bills to force recovery of outstanding fines.

➡️The Court was told that States and UTs have around ₹45,000 crore in e-challan dues, with roughly ₹25,000 crore recovered so far.

➡️Other measures discussed include blocking vehicle registration renewals, ownership transfers, PUC and fitness certificates, restricting licence renewals and even impounding vehicles with unpaid challans.

⚠️ The electricity-bill link is only a court suggestion at this stage — not a nationwide rule.
