The Peace Councils announcement that it will not deal with UNRWA and that UNRWA will have no role is fully aligned with the Zionist position, which aims to terminate the work of UNRWA, prevent it from providing relief to our Palestinian people, and eliminate the right of return.

It is strange that the Peace Council is taking this hostile position toward UNRWA at a time when the council is unable to provide relief to Gaza or compel the occupation to abide by the ceasefire agreement and stop the daily killing of our people in the Strip.

We value the role of Palestinian journalists, and call for solidarity with them, condemnation of the occupations crimes against them, efforts to protect them, and holding their perpetrators accountable.

Our Palestinian people, our Arab and Islamic nation, and the free people around the world commemorate today the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Journalist, which was established by the International Federation of Journalists on September 26, 1996, in appreciation of the role and message of Palestinian media, and in recognition of the sacrifices of journalists who conveyed the truth with professionalism and credibility, despite the dangers they faced.

The commemoration of this occasion comes amid the occupations continued targeting of journalists, media workers, and their institutions in Palestine. Since October 7, 2023, more than 262 journalists and media workers have been killed, and more than 400 others have been wounded, while the occupation government continues to prevent foreign press from entering the Gaza Strip, in an attempt to obscure the truth of the genocide committed against our people.

We pray for mercy upon the souls of the martyrs of truth, and ask Allah for recovery for the wounded and injured, and freedom for the captives and detainees. We also salute journalists, media workers, and their institutions, and value their fulfillment of their message despite the dangers and threats. We affirm the following:

🔸 The killing, detention, and expulsion of journalists, and the destruction and closure of media institutions, are war crimes and crimes against humanity that are not subject to a statute of limitations. We call on the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and press institutions around the world to condemn them, work to protect journalists, and hold their perpetrators accountable.

🔸 The persecution of Palestinian media institutions and attempts to block their content on social media platforms reveal the impact of the Palestinian narrative in conveying the truth and exposing the occupations crimes. We hold the companies complicit in these policies responsible for contributing to misinformation and covering up the crimes.

🔸 We call on Arab, Islamic, and international media institutions to strengthen their solidarity with Palestinian journalists and unify efforts to convey the suffering of our people, expose the occupations crimes, and warn against its plans that threaten the region and the stability of the world.

🔸The occupations continued commission of crimes and dissemination of lies requires press and media institutions to shoulder their responsibilities, intensify coverage and solidarity, show the truth, and stand for our peoples firmly established national rights.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, spoke the truth when he said: Faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni” and when he described “Najd as the horn of Satan.”

“Whoever deliberately lies and spreads falsehoods against the Yemeni people, the Yemen of faith and wisdom, and attacks the honor of their belonging to Islam and its sacred sites, will pay the price for it.”
