Nasser al-Duwaila:
“The blood that was shed in Egypt was shed with our support (the Gulf states), our incitement, our money, and our blessing.
You (the Gulf states) spilled the blood of people who were praying
The supplications of the innocent will surely find an answer from Allah. And you, Gulf states, killed innocent people (referring to the killing of protesters who supported the democratically elected government). You slaughtered innocent people in this manner.”
Interviewer: “But the Gulf states fear the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Nasser al-Duwaila:
“May Allah never grant the Gulf states security if this is how they seek to achieve it.
The Muslim Brotherhood has existed for 80 years. It has never slaughtered anyone or carried out a coup. It came to power through the ballot box in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Morocco.
All the killing has come from your side
I am not a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. 4 months ago, I was sitting here in this very studio criticizing the Muslim Brotherhood and cursing them. But you kill Muslims and expect me to stand with you (the Gulf regimes)?!
No, by Allah, we stand against you, and what you are doing is haram”
Interviewer: “Neither Saudi Arabia nor the UAE killed innocents in Egypt.”
Nasser al-Duwaila:
“20 minutes later, a Saudi statement came out supporting the coup! 20 minutes!!! How did you even know there was a coup in such a short time?! This was a conspiracy.
What happened in Egypt was a coup. Tanks in the streets. A bloody coup against a constitution approved by the people in a referendum, against a parliament elected by the people, and against a president elected by the people.”
Interviewer: “What is the reason for the dispute between the UAE and Saudi Arabia on one side and Qatar on the other? Is it because Qatar opposed the coup?”
Nasser al-Duwaila:
“No. The reason for the Saudi-Emirati dispute with Qatar is that Qatar allowed Al Jazeera to broadcast what was happening in Egypt. And according to their reasoning, this would lead to the failure of the coup.”
