Nour al-Din al-Jamasi was an outstanding Palestinian student who received a scholarship to study engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Hungary.
On the evening of October 7, 2023, he left Budapest, took the first flight to Cairo, and from there traveled to Gaza without informing his family.
He arrived in Gaza on October 8, 2023, under Israeli bombing at night, and immediately joined Al-Qassam Brigades.
On March 18, 2025, Israeli bombing targeted his family home in al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, killing his father, Mohammed Dawoud al-Jamasi, along with his mother, three of his siblings, his elder brother Obaida’s wife, and his brother’s children.
On Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2025, Al-Qassam fighters raided an Israeli army position in Netzarim, south of Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in southern Gaza City.
Al-Qassam said:
“Our fighters engaged enemy soldiers at point-blank range, killing and wounding several.
We also targeted two Merkava tanks with Yassin 105 and Tandem projectiles.
We attempted to capture an enemy soldier, but field conditions did not permit this.
We monitored the landing of a helicopter for evacuation, which lasted for more than an hour.”
Nour al-Din was killed in this operation.
On July 31, 2026, during the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics dedicated its 2025–2026 graduates yearbook to the memory of its outstanding student, engineer Nour al-Din Muhammad Dawoud al-Jamasi.
