VTuber (Virtual YouTuber) is a content creator—such as a streamer, YouTuber, or online entertainer—who uses a digital avatar instead of showing their real face. The avatar, often designed in an anime-inspired style, is brought to life using motion capture and face-tracking technology, allowing it to mimic the creator's facial expressions, head movements, and body language in real time.
Behind every VTuber is a real person who provides the voice, personality, and live performance. While anime-style avatars are the most common, VTubers can also use original 2D or 3D characters in a wide variety of artistic styles. They create the same types of content as traditional creators, including livestreams, gaming, music, chatting, comedy, and collaborations, but present themselves through a virtual character rather than their real appearance.
