well hi, hello, haven't seen y'all in a while. im mal, i finally caught up with spoke, and I have some thoughts to share in particular on unspoken duo. wouldn't call it analysis tbf, just some observations

am I the only person who finds commander crazy suspicious? the way they act around spoke is just really, really odd to me. the way they kept urging spoke to be suspicious of his friends in the purgatory, the way they kept pushing him towards picking up the mantle of the null commander, the way they are rushing him to be violent and overtake the overworld — it almost feels intentional and not just unique character traits. what I also find interesting is spokes reluctance when it comes to enacting violence on people he was close with. you can see it with his hesitance on killing jamato, jumper, minute and even wemmbu — and how commander advocates for deaths of all of them. spokes decisions to basically "defang" wemmbu by taking away his orbitals is so interesting, because ultimately, if he wanted to get rid of competition, commander IS right — kill wemmbu and nobody else will have the orbitals, problem solved — but it's very clear to me that spoke doesn't WANT wemmbu to die. same way he doesn't want minute to die, or jumper, or anybody he is (was) close with. he finds billions of reasons to keep them alive, some being extremely stupid and not at all thought out.
now on the other hand, it's clear that commander wants best for null. they are noticeably upset and unsatisfied with the way spoke treats them and care a lot about their survival. what I also noticed is that very often when spoke isn't present at the scene, when he delegates to commander, something Goes Wrong with null. like them losing jamato, or letting him sabotage the cannon. this leads me to think: does commander actually want spoke as the leader? or did they choose spoke because they saw someone vulnerable and easy to use as a fictive leader, when in reality most of commanding is done by them? it certainly feels like that to me sometimes.

on another note I want to mention that spoke trapping mapicc in the underworld is, in a way, his attempt at keeping him safe from the war that is inevitably going to happen on the surface.
