A man who kidnapped a 24-year-old woman before subjecting her to more than a day of imprisonment, torture and rape has been handed a 34-year extended sentence.

Gagandeep Singh, 34, of Heathfield Road, Wandsworth, was convicted of two counts of rape, false imprisonment, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and kidnap following a trial at Isleworth Crown Court.

His sentence comprises 28 years in custody followed by a six-year extended licence period. He will not be eligible to be considered for parole until he has served at least two-thirds of the custodial term – 18 years and eight months.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Singh is also due to be deported following his sentence with no right of re-entry.
