A Royal Mail worker who exploited his position to intercept suspected drug parcels and redirect them to alternative addresses has been jailed after police uncovered more than £1.2 million in cash.

Amjad Ali, 50, of Olivia Drive, Slough, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison at Reading Crown Court on Thursday, 3 September.

Thames Valley Police said the investigation resulted in the largest cash seizure ever made by the force, with £1,185,420 discovered inside a storage locker linked to Ali.

A further £42,290 was recovered from his home.

In total, the Police seized £1,227,710 in cash.

Investigators believe the money represented proceeds generated through the onward sale of cannabis.
