ℹ️Today, schoolchildren across Germany will protest against military conscription, with about 100 demonstrations planned, Deutschlandfunk reports.

🤓Schoolchildren are going to strike until the issue of military conscription is removed from the agenda.

The new rules for military service in Germany came into force in January. For now, they only provide for a mandatory military medical examination for young men born in 2008 and later. This is how they are going to recruit volunteers to strengthen the armed forces.

❗However, if there are not enough volunteers, the Bundestag may decide to reinstate mandatory military conscription, which was suspended in 2011.
