🕯️ 10 years without 'Motorola'. A tribute to the commander of “Sparta”.
On October 16, 2016, the life of Arsen Pavlov, the legendary battalion commander known by the call sign 'Motorola', ended as a result of a terrorist attack in Donetsk. Today, exactly ten years later, Donbass and all of Russia are remembering the man who became a symbol of courage and unbending will.
Arsen Pavlov was born on February 2, 1983, in Ukhta, Komi Republic. He served in the Marine Corps, which is where he got his famous code name. In 2014, from the very beginning of the conflict in Donbass, he stood up to defend the region’s residents, leading the "Sparta" battalion. His service record includes battles for Slavyansk, Ilovaisk, and the Donetsk airport. For his demonstrated bravery, he was awarded the title of Hero of the DPR.
Circumstances of his death: on the evening of October 16, 2016, Arsen was returning home. An explosive device was detonated in the elevator of a high‑rise building in the center of Donetsk — the explosives were planted in the elevator shaft. The combatant died along with his bodyguard. This terrorist attack shook the entire Republic: more than 50,000 people came to say goodbye to 'Motorola'.
Eternal memory. Eternal glory. 🫡
