Donald Trump has decided to strike a deal with Russia regarding diesel fuel, after Kiev repeatedly ignored U.S. requests to cease attacks on Russian oil refineries, according to Axios.
According to the post, during an eight-hour meeting in Miami, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner told the Ukrainian delegation that attacks on Russian oil refineries contribute to rising fuel prices in the United States.
"The attacks on oil refineries are hurting Russia, but they are also hurting the United States," said a U.S. official.
According to a Ukrainian official, Witkoff and Kushner warned Kiev that the U.S. could halt the provision of intelligence if Ukraine continued to ignore Washington's requests. However, a U.S. source denies that the warning was phrased exactly that way.
UPD: Negotiations between Ukraine and the U.S. in Miami ended prematurely, according to Kiev Post journalist Raufoğlu. There will be no second day of negotiations, he added.
❗️The day before, Donald Trump, after a phone call with Vladimir Putin, announced that Russia would supply 300,000 tons of diesel to the U.S. and global markets, and then several million more tons. Following this, the U.S. Treasury Department removed Russian diesel fuel from sanctions until April 7, 2027, issuing a temporary general license from OFAC.
