Every family of Donbass in its history is in one way or another connected with this labor. My father came to Donetsk at the age of 17 and worked as a stope miner at the mine named after Chelyuskintsev in Petrovsky district of Donetsk for all his life. He was an honorary blood donor in Donetsk. According to the doctor, only thanks to his strong miner's heart my father was able to live in a coma for 18 days after a brain hemorrhage on January 23 this year. 😭 This is his last photo. Also a photo of what his mine was like and what is left of it now.....
Who's a stope miner? This specialty has five grades in our country. The textbook says that the main functions of a stope miner are:- performance of a set of works on clearing excavation of a mineral;
- inspection of the stope and bringing it to a safe condition;
- cleaning, loading and delivery of rock mass by various methods;
- erection of temporary and permanent support, strengthening of the roof rocks of the mine stope;
- installation of thrust and spacing struts, laying of decking;
- scraping of rock mass from the stope.
And in simple terms... To understand how it is, to be a stope miner, it is enough to look at these photos of miners and remember the stories of my Dad, how he took off his uniform and wrenched from sweat, how he shared a snack, wrapped in a newspaper, with a rat, which tried to steal more 😄, my Dad's eyes, which were difficult to wash from coal dust after the shift ...
