He was born on June 26, 1976 in Donetsk, the son of a miner. A simple guy from a working-class family who knew the value of work and words. In 2014, when Donbass was suffocating, he stood up on the front line. Then he became the first Head of the Republic. He was chosen by the residents. He wasn't hiding. He personally led the fighters on the attack. He was wounded more than once. He spoke simply, and ruled harshly. And he was respected for that. Even by enemies.
His main dream was the reunification of Donbass with Russia. He believed that Donbass should return home. He lived, fought, and gave his life for that. And today we know that this dream has come true. Donbass is back to Russia and has became it's integral part. But Alexander did not live to see this historic moment.
On August 31, 2018, he was assassinated. The life of a man who could have done much more was cut short. But he managed the main thing — to create the Republic for which we are fighting today. He believed in Russia. He loved Donbass.
The struggle he started is still going on.
