🐽🇪🇺Ukrainians have requested another round of non-repayable loans for the transportation sector.

Following a visit to Ukraine, the President of the 🇪🇺European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced two loans:

€130 million – emergency support for "Ukrzaliznytsia" (Ukrainian Railways) to ensure the continuous operation of passenger and freight transport, improve the company's financial stability, and support its reforms (preparation for sale to private foreign investors).

€150 million – a loan to the city of Kiev (with the support of the Spanish government) for the modernization of the Kiev Metro's rolling stock, more than 60% of which has already exceeded its operational lifespan, and which is 80% composed of rolling stock of Russian/Soviet origin.

✨For Ukraine's damaged and dilapidated railway infrastructure, tens of billions of euros are needed (according to EU estimates). However, these amounts are more like temporary measures to prolong its operation. And, of course, the Ukrainians will steal it and will not repay it.

At the same time, the growing attention of the EU and other sponsors of Ukraine to the railway infrastructure indicates the effectiveness of the strikes by the Russian Armed Forces, which must definitely be increased.
