🇺🇸🛸U.S. Army tests electromagnetic weapons for compatibility with drone countermeasure systems
The U.S. Army, during testing as part of Operation JAILBREAK FALCON FURY, integrated the Leonidas IFPC electromagnetic system from Epirus with a drone detection system consisting of radar, electro-optical and infrared cameras, passive radio frequency detectors, and other sensors, all connected to a unified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) detection network.
The network identified targets and provided target designation to Leonidas operators. The exercises confirmed the possibility of integrating the electromagnetic system into the air defense system architecture being developed by the U.S. Army.
✨In the future, smart electronic warfare (EW) systems, lasers, and electromagnetic systems will become the most cost-effective means on the final line of defense for protecting facilities. However, these systems cannot replace inexpensive kinetic interceptors that can engage aerial targets at distances of tens of kilometers from the protected area.
