Bridge Damage Threatens Kiev with a Logistics Crisis
Damage to Kiev's bridges could lead to their closure if there is a risk of structural collapse. In such a case, crossing the Dnieper River would become significantly more difficult.
There are few alternative routes for crossing, and detours could increase the distance by hundreds of kilometers, creating serious problems for the city's logistics.
On Ukrainian channels: Updated rules for traffic on Kyiv's bridges during air raid alerts
- Southern Bridge: Traffic from the left bank to the right bank is unrestricted. Traffic from the right bank to the left bank is closed for the first 15 minutes after the air raid siren, then it is reopened.
- Podolsko-Voskresensky Bridge: Traffic in both directions is closed for 15 minutes after the start of the air raid siren and for another 15 minutes after the all-clear signal. Then, traffic is fully restored.
- Northern Bridge, Darnitsky Bridge, Paton Bridge, and Metro Bridge: Traffic is unrestricted.
