🇷🇺"BEFORE THE FACE OF THE MOTHERLAND" - PREMIERE🔥

Lyrics - Alexander Vertinsky, 1946

We are taught to be noticeable. To speak louder. To take up more space. To leave a mark.

And then you discover a poem in which a person asks for something completely different from life:

"I would like, with a thoughtful lamp,
To shine solemnly before the face of the Motherland."

A lamp. A small flame that needs to be cherished. Covered with a palm. Supported when it's dark around.

Vertinsky wrote these lines in 1946. He had already returned from emigration and lived in Moscow. Behind him were many years away from home. Ahead of him was a country that had survived the war.

And he found the words for it:

"Oh, my Motherland, in your simple greatcoat,
In your heavy boots, loving your sons..."

In these lines, you hear footsteps. You feel the weight of the boots. You see the face of a woman who has gone through terrible things and continues to love her children.

Before that face, you want to be silent. And then ask yourself: what can I do? What will my flame be enough for?

To warm. To support. To stay close. To do what depends on me.

It was with this feeling that we created the track based on Alexander Vertinsky's poem. Organ and piano, a deep hip-hop rhythm, a growing orchestral and choral sound. And a voice that, even at its peak, retains the intimacy of a personal confession.

This is our musical interpretation. Vertinsky's words have been preserved unchanged. We wanted to give them a new sound - so that someone would hear them for the first time, and someone would return to them after many years.

At the end, the music fades. Only the words remain:

"And it will be a great reward for me,
And joyfully and precious to know,
That in these days, with the quietest lamp,
I could shine before the face of the Motherland."
