“We are not coaches of the clubs, we can't control their decisions.” 🤷♂️
“It looked like Kudus was moving in the right direction. But later, after playing 70-something minutes, the news was not progressing as expected.” ❌
“In my final conversation with Kudus, we realised the best decision was to protect his recovery process. He can take the risk of a step-back, and nobody wants that.” 🇬🇭

Luka Vušković on leaving Tottenham and joining Brighton...
“I wouldn’t go back to that too much. I appreciate that Tottenham recognised me as a very young player, that they invested in me at the time and that together we found good solutions and clubs where I could play and develop. “Coaches, directors, boards and sporting policies change at clubs, and it’s not for me to comment on their decisions. “I’m happy Brighton wanted me, that they saw me as part of their project and that they were then prepared to pay a very large amount of money for me. "That shows me the great confidence the club has in me and I want to repay them in the best possible way. “It’s difficult for me to answer that – it’s my path, so for me it’s normal. Of course I’m satisfied [at Brighton], especially because the club is doing really well. “We’re playing excellent football, and I have full playing time and the confidence of the coach and my teammates, so I could hardly have imagined a better start.”
It was defeat for Rodrigo Bentancur and Uruguay as they took on Japan this morning. Rodrigo captained his country for just the second time in his career as Diego Forlan took charge of his first game as national team boss. However, it ended in disappoinment as Uruguay fell to a 3-1 loss. 'Lolo' played 79 minutes before he was substituted. It was his 77th appearance for his country.
David Ornstein (The Athletic) on Tottenham and the January transfer window...
“They seem intent on continuing to try to improve the squad. Will that happen in January... it is not a good market at the best of times, and you saw a year ago, having re-taken control after Daniel Levy’s departure, it was just Conor Gallagher who came in and there was a departure of Brennan Johnson. He wasn’t replaced. It does not tend to be a busy window. But I don’t know of any concrete plans to hit the market hard again. January is tough. They did a lot in the summer, they will probably do a bit more next summer. And there’s the significant factor of players coming back from injury — the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert; the returns of Mohammed Kudus and James Maddison are relatively recent. There’s not much squad space. So for players to come in, some will have to depart.”
“It’s been a tough start for us, but we’re just looking ahead. Of course it’s tough. At the same time, it’s part of football.
It feels like we’re playing better and taking steps every day in training. It’s just looking ahead and keeping going. Then we’ll get some kind of reward.” 🤝
Alan Shearer has accused Tottenham of overspending...
"I guess De Zerbi went into this summer with a list of players that he wanted and they have spent a fortune perhaps on all those players. "I'm not sure the fees warrant the ability, but no one would have expected them to be bottom of the league. "I've said many times, that they brought the players in this summer, but they spent an absolute fortune on them. On everyone, I think. "Van Hecke was a lot of money, Tonali was incredible money, Savio, and Marmoush (on loan) are others as well. It is a long, long three weeks for Tottenham and they simply have to start winning football games when they are back from the international break. "All the bigger questions will start to be asked, if not already, if they don’t start winning football games very, very soon. "I still think they'll have enough to stay up. They'll use the Aston Villa situation and what happened to them at the start of last season when I don't think they won in their first five games and they then managed to climb the league and qualify for Europe again. "They will look at that and think there's still loads of football to be played, which there is, but there's a massive amount of work to be done at Spurs. "I had them to finish in the top six this season and I am not sure that that will happen now."
Yang helps Korea to quarter-finals of Asian Games...
Yang Min-Hyeok made his first start of the tournament as South Korea booked their place in the last eight of the 2026 Asian Games with a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Tuesday afternoon. Competing for his country in an Under-23 side at the multi-sport event in the football discipline, Yang - who is spending the season on loan at Belgian side KVC Westerlo - played the first 54 minutes of the victory at the Mizuho Rugby field in Nagoya, Japan. The win over Saudi Arabia saw South Korea finish the group stage with a 100-per-cent record having defeated Qatar 4-1 in their Group D opener last Tuesday - Yang played 18 minutes that day. The winger and his nation will now face Vietnam in the quarter-finals on Friday. Held every four years, the legendary Heung-Min Son previously helped Korea to the gold medal at the 2018 edition of the event.
“It was always going to be Tottenham, even from January, as long as they stayed up. I ended up getting invested in Tottenham games, was watching Tottenham thinking ‘come on’, especially when De Zerbi came in I was fully confident, I was really happy with how much Spurs wanted me."

"We are not coaches of the clubs, we can't control their decisions. "It looked like Kudus was moving in the right direction. But later, after playing 70-something minutes, the news was not progressing as expected. "In my final conversation with Kudus, we realised the best decision was to protect his recovery process.
