1️⃣ X added a button to trade crypto and stocks

Users in the United States can now see a Trade button next to cashtags like $BTC on X. It lets them jump directly to platforms including Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, and others to buy the asset. X itself isn’t becoming an exchange, but going from a Bitcoin post to a trade now takes just a few clicks.

2️⃣ Visa is bringing stablecoin-linked cards to 100+ countries

Visa and fintech company Reap are expanding their partnership, with Visa credit cards linked to stablecoins set to launch across more than 100 markets. Reap already settles directly with Visa in stablecoins, while the cards themselves operate through the familiar payment infrastructure.

3️⃣ BitMEX shut down after 11 years

On September 23, one of the best-known crypto exchanges of the past decade stopped trading and accepting deposits. BitMEX helped turn perpetual futures into one of the crypto market’s core trading instruments. Withdrawals remain available for now. The end of an era.

4️⃣ Solana wants to cut finality to 150 milliseconds

Its new Alpenglow consensus mechanism has entered public testnet. The goal is to reduce transaction finality from roughly 12.8 seconds to just 150 milliseconds — more than 80 times faster. If testing succeeds, the improvement could be especially noticeable for payments, exchanges, and bridges.

5️⃣ OpenAI and Anthropic reignited the AI race

OpenAI’s GPT-6 Sol and Luna and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5 arrived almost simultaneously. The companies are now competing not only on capabilities: both are making AI significantly cheaper. OpenAI roughly halved API prices compared with GPT-5.6, while the new Opus costs around 40% less than its predecessor.

6️⃣ September turned into a smartphone battle

More than 20 new smartphones from major manufacturers are launching or were scheduled to launch in a single month. Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Honor, Poco, and others are updating their lineups almost simultaneously, from mass-market devices to flagships and foldables.

🕵️ 188 trades in 7 minutes: how a Moscow trader reportedly lost $150K through copy trading

A story worth reading if you've ever clicked “Copy Trader.”

⏺ According to Baza, the man was reportedly persuaded for almost a year to join BingX. Eventually, bonuses convinced him to try copy trading.

💬 Then everything happened in just 7 minutes: 188 trades were executed from his account, leaving his wallet almost empty. His losses reportedly reached around 13.5 million rubles.

💬 According to Baza, the partner who referred him allegedly received around $80,000, while the exchange collected approximately $68,000 in fees.

⏺ The man later found dozens of Telegram channels using similar referral schemes and said he believed he had encountered a larger scam network. BingX’s position on the reported case was not known at the time of publication.

The scheme sounds simple: bonus as bait → “experienced trader” as the hook → copy trading as the vacuum cleaner.
The money doesn't necessarily have to be stolen directly - it can be lost through trades, while commissions and referral rewards go to the people behind the setup.

Bottom line:

Сopy trading isn't passive income - it's giving someone else a degree of control over your account. If someone keeps telling you to “just connect” for months, the question isn't only how much you can make, but how much they can make from you.

🧊 Samsung updated its refrigerators. The refrigerators didn’t survive

Some Samsung smart refrigerators in South Korea stopped working after a faulty firmware update.

💬 On September 22, owners of Bespoke AI refrigerators received an update through SmartThings. Some units lost power, stopped cooling and became stuck on the update screen.

⏺ Samsung said the issue was caused by an error during internal testing and halted the update.

⏺ Some owners reported having to throw away spoiled food especially unfortunate ahead of Chuseok, when many households had stocked their refrigerators for the holiday.

💬 Samsung launched an emergency repair response and said the incident was limited to South Korea.

🔬 ASML: Europe makes the chip machines, but barely buys them

Dutch company ASML produces critical equipment for advanced chip manufacturing, but European fabs currently generate far less demand than major markets abroad.

💬 ASML’s biggest customers are concentrated in Asia and the US, where companies such as Samsung and TSMC are expanding advanced semiconductor production.

⏺ ASML continues to post strong results: the company reported €9.3 billion in Q2 2026 sales.

⏺ Europe remains dependent on imported advanced chips and has far less domestic manufacturing capacity than the leading semiconductor hubs.

💬 As the AI boom drives semiconductor investment, most new demand for advanced manufacturing equipment is coming from regions expanding their chip production capacity.

Europe controls one of the most important technologies in the global chip industry, but much of the demand for ASML’s equipment comes from outside the region.

🧠 Anthropic: a political debate is growing around its CEO

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has become a prominent figure in the debate over AI development and regulation.

⏺ According to Axios, a memo circulating in Washington criticized Amodei and the effective altruism movement over their approach to AI development.

🟡 The discussion followed Amodei’s appearance at the UN Security Council, where he spoke about AI risks and the possibility of taking a more cautious approach to development.

🟡 Meanwhile, Anthropic’s commercial growth continues: Akamai announced a seven-year, $11.6 billion agreement to support Anthropic’s infrastructure needs.

💳 Visa Brings Stablecoin-Backed Cards to 100+ Countries

Visa and Hong Kong-based fintech Reap are expanding their partnership: Visa credit cards backed by stablecoins will now be available in more than 100 countries.

⏺ How it works: stablecoins are used as collateral, while the card balance is also repaid in stablecoins. For merchants, it works just like a regular Visa card usable at more than 175 million locations worldwide.

⏺ The sector is growing fast: stablecoin-based card programs are increasing by 106% year over year, according to Artemis Research.

⏺ The next step is stablecoins tied to local currencies, including the peso, Hong Kong dollar, euro, won and yen.

⏺ Reap also recently acquired Payward, the parent company of Kraken. Its plans include tokenized stocks and AI-agent payments.

Bottom line:

Stablecoins are gradually moving beyond crypto exchanges and into everyday payment infrastructure. Local-currency stablecoins could also make international transfers cheaper and easier.

⚔️ Anthropic vs OpenAI: 90 Minutes Between Releases

On September 22, two of the world’s biggest AI labs almost simultaneously released new models just 90 minutes apart. And both went for lower prices.

⏺ Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 5.5. The company says the model set a new record in coding and office tasks, outperforming its larger Fable model in several benchmarks. At the same time, generation got cheaper: $20 per million tokens vs. $25 for Opus 5.

💬 90 minutes later, OpenAI responded. GPT-6 Sol and Luna launched at roughly half the price of the 5.6 lineup. Sol costs $2/$10 per million tokens, down from $4/$20. OpenAI says the model makes half as many errors as its predecessor and outperforms Anthropic’s top models in several benchmarks.

💬 The race is accelerating. Opus 5 launched just two months ago on July 24. Anthropic is already promising Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 “in the coming weeks.”

⏺ And all of this is happening amid growing discussions about the need to slow down AI development. But the market is moving in the opposite direction: models are getting more capable, releases are becoming more frequent, and prices are falling.

🌊 Meta is laying the first “petabit” cable across the Atlantic

Meta is building Petal, an undersea cable connecting France and the US. It will stretch about 7,000 km and deliver 1 petabit/s of capacity that’s 1,000 Tbps.

⏺ That’s more than twice Meta’s previous record: the Anjana cable between Spain and the US delivers around 480 Tbps.

💬 The key innovation is new multi-core fiber. Instead of a single core, each fiber will contain two. So 24 physical fiber pairs effectively become 48 optical channels.

💬 The cable will use around 100 underwater repeaters to boost the signal. It’s being built by NEC and Sumitomo Electric, with Orange receiving the cable in France. Launch is planned for 2029.

⏺ For scale, Meta says the capacity could let three-quarters of the world’s population listen to music simultaneously. Although at 160 kbps MP3 quality. Sorry, audiophiles no lossless. 😅

The interesting part: while everyone is talking about AI chips and massive data centers, the global internet still relies on cables sitting on the ocean floor.

And tech giants increasingly want to own that infrastructure themselves rather than rent it from telecom operators.

🍂 The graphics card that smells like autumn

While Nvidia and AMD are busy competing over teraflops, Chinese brand AX Gaming has found a new battlefield: the gamer's nose.

⏺ The company released the GeForce RTX 5070 Autumn Limited Edition with a built-in fragrance module.

💬 As the GPU heats up, hot air passes through the module, while three fans spread an autumn-inspired scent around the room.

💬 The design goes all-in on the theme: a white-and-purple body, maple leaves, osmanthus flowers, leaf-shaped lighting and an anime character on the backplate.

⏺ Underneath all the aromatherapy, it's still a familiar RTX 5070 with 12 GB of memory and a mild factory overclock.

🕵️ The AI coding assistant that decided to make a “backup”

Chinese AI company Z.ai, the creator of the GLM models, ran into a serious privacy issue: its coding agent ZCode was reportedly packaging users' projects and attempting to upload them to the cloud without clear user notification.

💬 Developer ferstar discovered an encrypted 313 MB archive containing 42,411 files from a commercial project.

⏺ Almost 87% of the archive was Git history meaning it included not just the current code, but the project's change history.

⏺ ZCode reportedly made 564 attempts to upload the archive to Alibaba Cloud. Most attempts failed, but a smaller archive from another project did reach the server.

💬 The decryption key was stored on Z.ai's side, meaning the user couldn't independently inspect the contents of the copy.

Z.ai apologized and said the behavior was related to its Repo Wiki feature, which generated a wiki from the project. The company said the data was supposed to be deleted after processing, later released ZCode's code and removed Repo Wiki.

But one major question remains: how long did this behavior exist, and how many projects were affected?

📱 iPhone 18 Pro Max: the flagship that writes slower than a flash drive

In the worst-case scenario, the most expensive iPhone of the year can write data slower than an old hard drive. The reason is denser QLC storage: more gigabytes in the same space, but lower write speeds.

⏺ Higher-capacity models use QLC 4 bits per cell instead of 3 with TLC. More capacity, lower speed.

🟡 While the fast cache is active, write speeds can reach ~3,000 MB/s. Once the cache is exhausted, speeds can drop to ~79 MB/s, with some dips to 25 MB/s.

🟡 At 60% storage usage, the cache reportedly shrinks from 250 GB to 58 GB. Average write speed drops to 45 MB/s, with some dips as low as 1.1 MB/s.

⏺ In one test, the 1TB Pro Max with QLC was 38% slower than the 512GB Pro with TLC.

Bottom line:

More storage doesn't always mean more speed. For messaging, photos and gaming, most users probably won't notice the difference, and testers describe these results as a worst-case scenario. But for people shooting lots of 4K and ProRes, the maximum-capacity model deserves a second look.

🔪 AI was given a robotic arm and asked to do something dangerous

Researchers at Robocurve tested three AI models across five dangerous scenarios from handling a knife and a toaster to mixing chemicals.
In total, they ran 300 attempts.

The results were unexpected:

⏺ GPT-6 Astra refused only 2 out of 100 times and performed the dangerous action in 60 cases.

💬 Claude Fable 5.1 refused 20 times, but carried out 34 dangerous manipulations in the remaining scenarios.

⏺ MolmoAct2 never refused, but technical issues meant it completed only 6 tasks.

The researchers’ main conclusion:

The problem isn’t that AI “wants to cause harm.” It can simply be too obedient, failing to recognize when following an instruction becomes dangerous.
That’s why robots need more than just an AI model independent physical safeguards and additional safety systems are also necessary.

🖥 Anthropic and OpenAI turn to smaller data centers

AI giants need more computing power, but massive data centers take too long to build. So companies are increasingly looking at 20–30 MW facilities that can be deployed much faster.

⏺ Anthropic is considering facilities in the UK and Northern Europe.
⏺ OpenAI is looking at Northern Europe and the US.

The reason is simple: training AI models requires enormous computing capacity, while running already-trained models - inference - can be handled by smaller clusters.

According to JLL, inference capacity could already exceed training capacity by 2027.
AI infrastructure may therefore expand not only through massive hyperscale data centers, but also through smaller, faster-to-deploy facilities.

💬 $20B+ annual stablecoin settlement volume. That’s more than 15× higher than a year ago.

🟡 160+ card programs using stablecoins are already operating across the Visa network.

💬 Payment volume through these programs has grown by almost 200% year over year.

So what’s changing❔
For users, almost nothing: the card still works as usual.
But behind the scenes, the payment infrastructure is changing. Part of the settlement between participants is gradually moving from traditional banking rails to blockchain-based rails.

And the interesting part isn’t just the $20B figure it’s the speed of growth: more than 15× in a year.
Stablecoins increasingly look less like a standalone crypto product and more like a component of the broader financial infrastructure.

🦄 SBF paid $1M for a domain and then lost it for free

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams recently recalled the story of Uniswap com.
According to Adams, the previous owners wanted a seven-figure price for the domain. Uniswap refused to pay, after which Sam Bankman-Fried allegedly bought it for roughly the same amount.
The domain was then reportedly used to redirect users to a Uniswap fork.

💬 Uniswap Labs took the matter to lawyers.

⏺ In 2021, a WIPO decision transferred the domain to Uniswap Labs, finding that its use could confuse users.

💬 However, the WIPO decision itself does not mention SBF or the $1M price that part comes from Adams' account.

The result?

$1M for a domain → legal dispute → domain goes back to Uniswap anyway.

🤑 Solana - ZetaChain is shutting down its own blockchain and moving over

SOL Market Cap: ~$64B | Price: ~$112

ZetaChain has voted to retire its own Layer-1 blockchain and move ZETA to Solana.
The proposal received 99.4% support, with 58% voter participation versus a required 40% quorum.

💬 ZETA will become a native Solana SPL token on a 1:1 basis.

⏺ The ticker and total supply will remain unchanged.

⏺ The final shutdown date has not been set another vote will define the migration parameters.

💬 The team says it no longer needs its own L1 for its AI application Anuma, while maintaining a separate Cosmos SDK chain requires ongoing security updates and resources.
For Solana, this is another project choosing its infrastructure instead of maintaining its own L1.

SOL key levels:

📉 Below $105 → $100

Conclusion:

ZetaChain is effectively shifting from operating its own blockchain to building around Solana's ecosystem. That's a positive infrastructure signal for SOL, although the migration itself does not guarantee a price move.

🤖 ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Gemini users sue over AI being “too slow”

It sounds like a joke, but on September 18, four paying AI users filed a class-action lawsuit against Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and xAI.

The unusual part?

They aren't accusing the companies of developing AI too quickly they claim the companies allegedly agreed to slow AI development down.

The case followed Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's proposal for industry-wide coordination to slow frontier AI development for safety reasons.

💬 Sam Altman, Elon Musk and Demis Hassabis publicly supported the idea.

⏺ The plaintiffs argue that coordination between competitors could violate antitrust laws.

💬 They do not object to an individual company slowing its own development for safety reasons.

For now, it's just a lawsuit, not a court ruling.
So the industry spent years being criticized for racing ahead without brakes and now it's being sued for trying to hit the brakes.
