Yesterday, Telegram released a new update featuring: an integrated Telegram browser with multi-tab support, granting Web3 access to nearly a billion users, a mini app store, the ability to gift stars to friends, and much more.
The built-in browser allows you to minimize and restore pages from the bottom panel, so you can quickly switch between chat messages, websites, quick view articles, and mini-apps.
The browser supports decentralized sites on the TON network (TON Sites) and TON DNS domains in all mobile and official desktop apps.
Here's how to enable Telegram browsing on your OS:
- Andriod
Settings > Chat Settings
Scroll down and enable the “Built-in browser” option
- iOS
Settings > Data and Storage > Browser
Yesterday, active users in the community discovered that Telegram also supports the Punycode format, for opening domains with Russian characters and emojis from Telegram. Many users rushed to claim these domains, but Anatoly Makosov asserted that Punycode will not be supported in TON DNS due to its potential for phishing and fraud, making the purchase of Punycode domains obsolete.

Now, whenever you receive a new message, you can smoothly switch to the chat without losing your open web pages, articles, or games in mini-apps. You can also bookmark pages to return to them later.
Additionally, a new “Apps” tab has appeared in the search section, listing your mini-apps, as well as a selection of popular mini-apps and MAU (monthly active users) statistics. You can now quickly access your games and services or discover something new.
Mini-apps that use Telegram Stars as payment can now be featured in the “Popular Apps” section. Detailed information for developers is available on the corresponding page.
