Thor's Well sits on the Oregon coast near Cape Perpetua, where the Pacific basically created nature's own infinity pool. During high tide and winter storms, waves shoot water up through this sinkhole like a reverse waterfall—locals call it the Gate to Hell, though it's really just collapsed sea cave geology doing its thing.

The hole formed when the roof of an underwater cave gave in after thousands of years of waves hammering the basalt. At about 20 feet deep, it's not actually bottomless, but tell that to your brain when you're watching water surge in and out. The spot went viral around 2015 when photographers figured out long exposures made it look absolutely unreal.
