On Saturday, Mount Kanlaon in the central Philippines erupted, sending a thick plume of smoke and ash up to six kilometers into the sky. This moderately explosive eruption prompted authorities to maintain Alert Level 2 and advise nearby residents to take precautions against ashfall.
