On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 7:29 a.m., an electric bicycle storage area on the ground floor of Building 8 in the Shuangyunli Community in the Xihu District of Hangzhou caught fire, enveloping the entire residential block in thick smoke. Firefighters extinguished the fire by 7:50 a.m., and there were no reported casualties. However, it was a preventable fire caused by storing lithium-battery bikes where they are banned.
