The Baby Boom demonstrates that a reduction in women's wealth/status relative to men's results in higher fertility.

The TFR increase (which raised net-fertility to the same level as the mid-19th century) was not caused by people pumping out 10 kids each, but by a significant increase in marriage, especially among the young.

This was driven by an increase in young men's wealth/status relative to that of young women. The relative part is important: Women don't want to be poor and low status, they just want men to be wealthier and higher status than themselves; this is true even for wealthy / high status women.

The Baby Boom was brought to an abrupt end by feminism and the Sexual Revolution making marriage a bad deal for men (no-fault divorce, female promiscuity, etc.), plus a systemic effort to increase women's wealth/status relative to men's, including wealth transfers from men to women.
