All I know

Is that back in 2021 when interest rates were extremely low....

I had tons of IRL friends age 20-40 who were just absolutely killing it...

General contractors, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, cleaning company owners, cryptobros, mechanics, car dealership owners, digital marketers, freelancers, guys in various sales roles, all sorts of stuff...

And today, with interest rates sky-high, I know virtually nobody age 20-40 IRL who I would say is really killing it financially in the same way they were then...

I'm obviously aware of all the intellectual arguments for why the Fed needed to hike rates to combat inflation...

But it seems to me that this austerity-LARP we've undergone the last few years trying to do so has only benefitted a narrow sliver of society at most (mostly boomers and members of the ruling gerontocracy)...

And has been a clear net detriment to the overall health of society- especially those in their prime childbearing years while we are in the midst of a fertility crisis...

$OLY is looking very interesting here, mark your calendars for the mint phase starting on 28 aug

i always drawn to projects that experiment with incentive design so lets analyze $OLY through a game theory framework

$OLY is interesting because the sell tax is essentially an incentive design problem.

SEPTEMBER FED HIKE LOOKS UNLIKELY

Baird’s Ross Mayfield says softer core inflation and limited wage pressure strengthen the case for the Fed to hold rates steady in September.

He sees those trends as the “bedrock” for a pause, reducing the likelihood of another rate hike at the next meeting.

Singapore Income tax (international tax compliance agreements) (crypto‑asset reporting framework) regulations 2026

1️⃣ From 1 Jan 2027, exchanges must report your trading data to IRAS

Any crypto exchange, broker, or trading platform with a Singapore nexus (incorporated, managed, or operating here) must report annual aggregates per user, per token: fiat buys/sells, crypto-to-crypto swaps, transfers in/out. IRAS then auto-exchanges this with tax authorities in your country of tax residence

2️⃣ Mandatory KYC self-certification - no cert, no trading

New users must declare tax residency, TIN, and DOB at onboarding from Day 1. Existing users have until 31 Dec 2027 to submit. From 1 Jan 2028, exchanges are legally barred from executing trades for anyone without a valid self-certification.

3️⃣ Crypto is now baked into the traditional banking rules too

Crypto-assets are now "financial assets," entities managing crypto for clients count as investment entities, and e-money/CBDC accounts become reportable depository accounts. So even if you hold crypto through funds, custodians, or wealth platforms rather than a CEX, the reporting requirement is still there

4️⃣ This is for transparency sake, not new tax

Nothing here changes Singapore's tax treatment - no capital gains tax for individual investors. But the era of CEX activity being invisible to tax authorities formally ends in 2027

.@Lighter_xyz launched on @RobinhoodApp Chain to much fanfare, but it has yet to gain meaningful traction.

In July, Lighter’s Robinhood Chain deployment generated $86.8 million in perp volume, accounting for just 0.2% of total Lighter volume.

Lighter is integrated into Robinhood Wallet, not the main Robinhood app, and its lack of traction shows that Robinhood’s distribution power is concentrated in the main app, not its standalone crypto wallet.

The state of play for crypto card payments

Its very impressive to see that crypto cards just hit ~$759M/month, up ~19% MoM.

But the more interesting number, imo, is that monthly inflows into stablecoin neobanks reportedly crossed $1B for the first time.

Because those two numbers measure very different things.

Card volume measures spending. Deposits measure financial relationships.

If I deposit $2,000 into a crypto neobank and spend $200 through its card, the $200 payment isn’t necessarily the valuable part.

The remaining $1,800 is
.
It can potentially become deposits, collateral, yield-bearing assets, liquidity, or the basis for additional financial products.

That’s why I think we’re entering the second phase of the crypto-card market.
