Deep within a crooked woodland where breadcrumbs vanish beneath the roots, a little gingerbread house stands beneath the pale moon. Its candy windows glow faintly, its sugared walls carry traces of an old feast, and the forest around it has grown strangely quiet.

No longer do the children gather beneath warm cottage windows. Instead, they follow scattered breadcrumbs through the thicket, drawn by the scent of gingerbread and the distant glow of the witch’s oven.

Some footsteps return before dawn.
Some simply disappear beneath the leaves. And somewhere beyond the sugared door, the forest is still waiting.
